Honestly, I cringe every time I see someone bite down on a piece of raw onion. Thank you for the lemon tip, I will use it the next time I am forced to chop those evil onions!

i made 8 layer casserole from your recipe for the first time in a while and i LOL'd at your inserted onion comments.
p.s. if you have any lemons, i heard that rubbing the inside on your hand gets rid of food smells. watch out for cuts though!

Recipe looks delicious! - I'm trying it on Sunday.....supposed to be 60 degrees, so - cool enough for a "chili" day! Will add the cumin ... and will make my version "five alarm" with a few shakes of hot chili pepper. Throw it on a baked potato with some shredded cheddar cheese....and that's how I'm going to "make it my own".... wait...that's not a Food Network term...American Idol I think. :-) Great blog! Looking forward to more updates!

Leigh, leigh, you must identify with the red velvet for its dramatic, fancy and glamorous qualities. Glamorous girls love a fancy red velvet cake! (And seeing their poop come out red is pretty dramatic too.)
